If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them. Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need.
Though Americas cities have long struggled with poverty, today there are actually more poor people outside of our urban centers than inside them. How do we help people when they're spread out over long distances, older, without transportation, unemployed, or struggling with addiction?
During a Rural Poverty trip you'll spend time learning about how Food Insecurity, Access to Housing, Unemployment and Opioid Addiction are all impacting rural communities across America today. Through service projects, videos, games, discussions, interviews, podcasts, readings and more you'll develop a deeper understanding of how we can best care for our neighbors and how that mandate forms the foundation of our faith. Do projects to help build up your community and learn from professionals who work to serve overlooked rural communities every day, all while being guided by experienced and knowledgeable leaders.
